SUCCESSFUL ALPS LAWYER LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
A couple weeks ago, eleven newer lawyers participated in the second ALPS Lawyer Leadership Institute at the Stonewall Resort near Weston.

These   attorneys, who have been practicing law for ten years or less, received presentations and interacted with outstanding members of the judiciary and the legal profession that will enable them to become leaders in the legal profession, in their communities and in the State. They heard remarks on service skills, leadership traits, professionalism and civil discourse through participation in group sessions, networking opportunities and interpersonal relationship building in an informal atmosphere.

Here are their comments directly from the evaluation forms:

  • Very Informative. Really enjoyed the ability to interact with fellow participants and speakers. Also enjoyed the small size of the group. A great experience.
  • Appropriate topics for young lawyers. Perfect mixture of speaking times, breaks and free time. Very timely topics.
  • All presenters were interesting and well prepared. I don’t believe that from a planning aspect the LLI could be improved.
  • Very relaxed enjoyable setting to learn. Great access to the speakers out of the classroom. Really enjoyed the networking time.
  • Very satisfied with this Institute. The speakers were engaging, concise and knowledgeable. Topics were interesting and relevant.
  • A great forum with great speakers with engaging discussions-I’m glad that I had the opportunity to attend.
  • This is an indepth informative program that covered a varied range of types of leadership. This conference has made me want to become more involved in the legal and local communities.
  • One of the better CLE’s I have attended. I enjoyed the smaller, interactive approach.
  • This program forced us to think about things that we normally wouldn’t in our practice. It had an overall great theme of service, which we all need reminded about.

On   the evaluation forms, the Institute and the location at the Stonewall Resort were evaluated on a 1-5 basis (5 is highest) and both were rated at 4.65. The presentations by the judges and lawyers received average scores from a high three rating to five plus. Each of the eleven participants confirmed that they would recommend the Institute to other younger lawyer leaders.

The Bar Foundation gives a very special thanks to ALPS (Attorney Liability Protection Society) and its long time extraordinary leader, Bob Minto, for sponsoring this outstanding event and commends the younger lawyers, who attended, for their commitment to be lawyer leaders.
