‌ LUNCH AND LAUGHS WITH LEGAL LEGENDS The Bar Foundation Board of Directors is very pleased to announce that the 10th Annual Lunch and Laughs With Legal Legends will be honoring a wife and husband who are truly legends in the legal profession—Ellie and Ed Flowers.   The event will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020, from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM and will be held virtually because of the COVID-19 virus pandemic restrictions.   Ellie served as the Assistant Dean for Career Services at the WVU College of Law for more than 20 years where she advised and guided thousands of judges and lawyers as they began their lives in the legal profession and the judicial system.   Ed held leadership positions in WV as a practicing lawyer, a top state government official, a Supreme Court Justice, a U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge and a WVU Vice President.   The Flowers have selected the Black Law Students Association and the Career Services Center at the WVU College of Law to receive the net proceeds from the Lunch and Laughs in combination with the Bar Foundation grants program.   The presenters for this “friendly roast” will be WVU President Gordon Gee, WVU Law School Professor Emeritus Jack Bowman and Dr. Carroll Morrison, former WVU College of Law official. Bar Foundation Immediate Past President Ellen Cappellanti (Charleston) will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and Bar Foundation President Chip Shaffer (Madison) will provide welcoming remarks.   The current Sponsors for the Lunch are: Judy and Rob Fisher, Esq. It will be a Good Time for Good Causes!     ‌ ELLIE AND ED FLOWERS Ellie and Ed Flowers celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in April, 2020, during the early stages of the COVID-19 virus pandemic.   Ed will proudly tell you that he had his 90th birthday, also in April, as he put the final touches on the manuscript for his next book regarding his time as the Commissioner of the WV Department of Welfare, about 50 years ago.   Ellie and Ed have lived in Morgantown for over 30 years, where they have given huge amounts of their time, efforts and resources in support of their alma mater, WVU. Both of them have received high honors for their dedication and devotion to our state’s land grant university.   It will be a wonderful tribute to them to be the honorees at the Lunch and Laughs With Legal Legends on Friday, October 23 at 12:00 Noon.     ‌ BOARD OF DIRECTORS The Bar Foundation Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting by telephone conference call on Thursday, September 10.   The Board members took action on the financial report, upcoming events including the Lunch and Laughs With Legal Legends, the Foundation Fellows Dinner and the Lawyer Leadership Institute, as well as agreeing to changes in the Bar Foundation website.     ‌ ‌ ‌   West Virginia Bar Foundation | P.
