Child Protect of Mercer County is a community based child advocacy center in Mercer County that works to ensure that “no child falls through the cracks” when the child is a victim of abuse and neglect, has witnessed violence or a crime or is drug-endangered.

The West Virginia Bar Foundation provides beneficial grants to worthwhile charitable organizations to improve the administration of justice, such as to Child Protect of Mercer County to support its forensic interview and trauma based therapy and counseling programs for children.

You and your colleagues in the practice of law and members of the judiciary provide the tax deductible contributions to the Bar Foundation Justice Fund which has generated more than 50 grants, totaling $300,000 in just the past eight years.

May you and your family enjoy a Happy Holidays Season!!

The Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 12:00 Noon, by telephone conference call.

During the meeting, the Board’s full agenda included the Independent Audit, which was clean and unmodified, the Financial Report for the first five months of the fiscal year with no significant items, the approval of two grants to improve the administration of justice in the state, the selection of the 2016 class of Bar Foundation Fellows, who will be notified in January and honored at the Annual Dinner on April 28, 2016, and an overview of the Justice Fund by the Investment Advisor.

The volunteer Board members are three judges and twelve lawyers from all parts of the state and all types of law practice.

It has been reported that 28% of all donations and contributions are made each year during the month of December!

As you consider giving money to charitable organizations at this time of the year, we hope that you will make a tax deductible payment to the WV Bar Foundation Justice Fund, the philanthropic organization for the legal profession and the justice system. Your funds will be used to further the mission of improving the administration of justice and the provision of legal services to WV’s citizens.

Donations can be made by check to the Justice Fund (WV Bar Foundation, P.O. Box 4845, Charleston, WV 25364) or use your credit/debit card through the simple PayPal donation process on the Bar Foundation’s website—-wvbarfound.org
