The WV Bar Foundation Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the law offices of Flaherty Sensabaugh  Bonasso in Charleston.

Present in person at the meeting are, from left to right above, Board Member Tom Flaherty, Independent Auditor Derek Godwin (Herman and Cormany, CPA) and Board President Steve White.

For each quarterly meeting, Board members can participate by telephone conference call as a means to reduce  the time and expense of attending in person. The vast majority of Board members actively participate in this manner.

The  other members of the diverse fifteen person Board are:

Barbara Allen-Charleston
Chief Judge John Bailey-Wheeling
Richard Bolen-Huntington
Secretary/ Treasurer Jodie Boylen-Parkersburg
Mary Clare Eros-Shepherdstown
Richard Ford, Jr.-Lewisburg
Ken Gray-Morgantown
Harry Hatfield-Madison
Professor Marjorie McDiarmid-Morgantown
Judge Alan Moats-Grafton
Vice President Ancil Ramey-Huntington
Kathy Santa Barbara-Martinsburg
John Shott-Bluefield

During its meeting on December 4, 2014, the Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors took action on several governance items with special emphasis on the Independent Auditors report for July 1, 2013-June 30, 2014.

The audit was a clean one as has occurred in all previous ones. The Internal Revenue Service Form 990 was reviewed extensively with both documents being approved. They will be placed on the website——with the more recent materials in the near future.

The Board also reviewed its financial report and Investment Fund, made decisions on strategic planning matters, and approved recommendations from the Grants Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee.

The next quarterly meeting is set for Thursday, March 19, 2015.
