LUNCH AND LAUGHS DONATION

      Robert M. Steptoe, Jr. (Bridgeport) was the honoree during the Sixth Lunch and Laughs With A Legal Legend on September 9, 2016, at the Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown.

      Bob selected student scholarships at the WVU College of Law as his designated charitable activity to receive his share of the net proceeds from the successful Lunch. Pictured above is Bob, on the left, presenting a check for $6,265 to WV Law School Dean Greg Bowman recently at the Law School.

      The Lunch and Laughs program has honored outstanding members of the judiciary and the legal profession with a “friendly roast” and donated more than $57,000 to law student and student scholarships at WVU, as well as the same amount to support Bar Foundation grants to worthwhile charitable entities to improve the administration of justice and the provision of legal services to WV’s men, women and children.     

Heartfelt thanks to the lawyers, law offices and members of the general public  who have supported these beneficial endeavors!

      The diverse Board consists of two judges and thirteen lawyers from all parts of the state and all types of law practice. The Justice Fund is the Bar Foundation’s endowment, which has gown to more than $625,000 in the past two years based upon initial funding from the sale of the Bar Foundation’s buildings and subsequent contributions from Bar Foundation Fellows, law offices and organizations which wish to have a positive impact on improving the justice system and the legal profession in the state.

       The Board members will make final plans to grow the Fund to $1 million in order to dramatically increase the number and the amount of Bar Foundation grants made to WV charitable groups.
