JOINT FOUNDATION FELLOWS LUNCHEON
The American Bar Foundation Fellows and the WV Bar Foundation Fellows held their annual joint luncheon meeting in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the WV Bar Association at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort on August 14.
The two Fellows groups have been working with the American Inns of Court in putting together a pilot mentoring project for initiation in the Northern District Federal Court system. Reports were given by Judge Fred Stamp, for Judge John Bailey, both of whom are working on the project in the Northern Panhandle, Judge Irene Keeley, who is coordinating with WVU College of Law Dean Greg Bowman in the North Central area and on behalf of Chief Judge Gina Groh, Judge Chris Wilkes and CEM Martin in the Eastern Panhandle area.
In addition, Judge Keeley provided an overview relating to the federal criminal justice reform proposals that are being considered by the U.S. Congress. She serves as the chairperson of a federal judiciary committee and it is believed that some bi-partisan legislation will be considered and perhaps approved this fall.
Approximately 40 Fellows were in attendance from all parts of the state and all types of law practice, including several members of the judiciary.
