LUNCH AND LAUGHS-JACK BOWMAN

Almost 100 registrations have already been made for the 4th Lunch and Laughs With a Legal Legend event on Friday, October 17, at the Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM. The honored guest for the “friendly roast” is WVU College of Law Professor Emeritus and extraordinary speaker, Forest “Jack” Bowman.

The proceeds from this worthwhile charitable activity will be distributed to Professor Bowman’s choice of the law student scholarship fund at the WVU College of Law and for Bar Foundation grants to improve the administration of justice, such as anti-bullying programs, child abuse and neglect prevention and civic education.

The “roasters” for the Lunch are WVU Law School Dean Emeritus John Fisher, WVU Law School Professor Charles DiSalvo and Attorney Steve Crislip.

Sponsorships of $2,000 are provided a reserved table with 10 seats. Individual tickets can be purchased for $60. A majority of the amount is tax deductible. GRANTS COMMITTEE
The Bar Foundation’s Grants Committee recently held its meeting to review grant applications in preparation for making recommendations at the quarterly Board of Directors meeting on September 18.

The Bar Foundation began its grants program in 2004 and has distributed nearly a quarter of a million dollars to worthwhile non profit WV organizations that improve the administration of justice and the provision of legal services to our citizens.

More than $230,000 in grants has been provided in just the past 6 years, including student scholarship funds at the WVU College of Law.

 

 

 

 

STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE

The Bar Foundation’s Strategic Planning Committee met at the end of August and considered the necessary future actions for the statewide philanthropic entity for the legal profession and the justce system.

Decisions were made regarding the Investment Fund, Bar Foundation events and progress in the provision of much needed Bar Foundation grants.
