BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting in Charleston on December 8 with participation in person and by telephone conference call for the members located around the state.
The significant matters considered during the meeting included the review and approval of a clean audit and a Form 990 for the 2010-11 fiscal year presented by the Independent Auditor, the approval of an amended balanced budget for the current 2011-12 fiscal year, the selection of outstanding lawyers and judges for the 2012 class of Bar Foundation Fellows and discussion of a report from the Strategic Planning Committee.
The Board also reviewed a sincere expression of gratitude and appreciation from WVU Law School student Michael Nissim-Sabat, the recipient of the Bar Foundation’s Public Service Scholarship.
BAR FOUNDATION PROPERTY FOR SALE
The Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors has taken action to place its buildings and property in Charleston, situated at 2006 Kanawha Blvd., East and at 2008 Kanawha Blvd., East, on the market for sale.
The property is in a prime location-less than a 1/2 block from the State Capitol-with sufficient on-site parking. An agreement will be entered into with WV Commercial, a well known statewide real estate broker, to market the buildings and land.
The proceeds from the sale of the facilities will be utilized by the Board of Directors for expansion of the grants program to improve the administration of justice in the state.

END OF YEAR CONTRIBUTIONS-
With less than ten days before the end of 2011, the time is here when the vast majority of contributions and donations are made to worthwhile charitable organizations.
Please consider making a tax deductible contribution to the WV Bar Foundation so that the Board of Directors can increase its strong commitment to assisting those statewide activities that improve the administration of justice and the provision of legal services in the areas of child abuse and neglect prevention, law related education and legal system scholarships.
You can easily make secure donations electronically on the Bar Foundation’s homepage on the new website— www.wvbarfound.org —-or send a check to WV Bar Foundation, 2008A Kanawha Blvd., East, Charleston, WV 25311.
Do it before December 31, 2011.
