THE ELEVENTH ANNUAL LUNCH & LAUGHS WITH A LEGAL LEGEND

The West Virginia Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors invites members of the judiciary, the legal profession, and the general public to attend the Eleventh Annual Lunch & Laughs with a Legal Legend on Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown, beginning at 11:30 am. A Zoom option is available for those who cannot attend in person.

This year’s honored guest will be former WV Supreme Court Chief Justice Margaret “Peggy” Workman.

Lunch & Laughs events are not to be missed. Three “roasters” will have the opportunity to tell stories and tales about the Justice, with additional time afterwards for the Justice to respond. The proceeds from the Lunch & Laughs event are divided between the honoree’s selected charitable recipient, the WVU Child and Family Advocacy Clinic, and the WV Bar Foundation.

The Master of Ceremonies, John Canfield, will entertain us throughout the program while he introduces each of the roasters. The three roasters are:

  • Dianna G. Canfield, Supreme Court of Appeals of WV
  • Honorable Joanna I. Tabit, Kanawha County Circuit Judge
  • Honorable Daniel P. O’Hanlon, Senior Status Circuit Judge

RECEPTION TO KICK OFF THE ANITA R. CASEY PUBLIC INTEREST FELLOWSHIP

Friends and colleagues of Anita Casey, the recently retired Executive Director of the West Virginia State Bar, have been working closely with the WVU College of Law to create a public interest summer fellowship in her honor. The annual fellowship will assist Legal Aid in hiring deserving WVU Law students who spend their summer working for Legal Aid of West Virginia (LAWV).

A reception is planned in Anita’s honor to officially unveil the fellowship and kick-off the fundraising efforts. The reception will take place at the WVU College of Law on Friday, September 9 at 5:00 p.m. All are invited to attend, but there is limited space, so RSVPs are requested. If you plan to attend, please email an RSVP to Jennie James at the College of Law: jennie.james@mail.wvu.edu. The deadline to RSVP is Tuesday, September 6, at 12 p.m. (noon).
