NEW BOARD MEMBERS
The West Virginia Bar Foundation held its Annual Meeting on June 2, 2022. After a quorum was established and the previous Annual Meeting minutes approved, President Christy Morris gave a report on the activities and services of the WV Bar Foundation during the past year.
Activities included the Bar Foundation Fellows Dinner, with 17 new inductees, and the 11th Lawyer Leadership Institute, with 11 young lawyers participating. The Lunch and Laughs event was postponed due to COVID and will be held during the upcoming fiscal year, on September 9, 2022. Several grants were distributed during the year, totaling $45,500 for the fiscal year.
Since the first WVBF grant in 2004, there have been 84 separate grants made in a total amount of more than $506,000. In addition, more than $89,000 has been provided in support of student scholarships and the legal clinics at the WVU College of Law with specific grants designated by the honored judges and lawyers at the ten Lunch and Laughs With Legal Legends events.
Secretary/Treasurer Lucien Lewin reported on the finances of the WV Bar Foundation. Revenues are in line with budgeted expectations, and the organization received a clean financial audit for the fiscal year 2020-2021.
New board members nominated and elected during the meeting are as follows:

THANK YOU, TOM TINDER!
The West Virginia Bar Foundation would like to thank Tom Tinder for his many years of service to the organization. Tom was the first WVBF Executive Director when the organization was formed in 1988. Through Tom’s leadership, the organization has established several ongoing programs and distributed a multitude of grants that have, and will continue to, shape the legal community. Although he retired last year, he had recently served as Interim Executive Director (as a volunteer, no less!) between January – June 2022.
I would personally like to thank Tom for his guidance and expertise during my transition into the Executive Director role for the WVBF. Tom spent countless hours with me to discuss the internal operations of the WVBF, and he sure knows his stuff! I am glad that he’s not going too far, as he recently joined the organization as a Board Member. Thank you, Tom! I hope you’re not yet tired of me asking questions!

LEGAL AID OF WEST VIRGINIA NEEDS YOUR INPUT
As a collaborative legal organization effort, we are sending out this message on behalf of Legal Aid of West Virginia. Please consider taking 15 minutes to complete the survey.
Legal Aid of West Virginia (LAWV) is embarking on an effort to redesign our pro bono program to better meet the needs of low-income West Virginians. To this end, we are seeking input from ALL attorneys licensed in West Virginia (even if you currently do not engage in pro bono). We ask that you take this 15-minute survey, found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LAWVProBono by Saturday, June 25, 2022. Thank you in advance, as your feedback is invaluable to this process!
