Justice Fund Anonymous Donor
Eighteen months ago, an Anonymous Donor made an extraordinary gift to support the Bar Foundation’s Justice Fund. The Fund was initiated by the WV Bar Foundation Board of Directors several years ago to support grants to worthwhile charitable organizations to improve the administration of justice and the provision of legal services to our citizens.   The extremely generous anonymous donation was in the total amount of $200,000 to be paid in monthly amounts of $5,000 for a period of forty consecutive months. The Board had set a goal of $1 million for the Justice Fund and once that goal is met, the Fund will always have an endowment of at least $1 million and an amount of $50,000 will be available for grants each year, in accordance with the Anonymous Donor’s guidelines.   At the beginning of this month, the Anonymous Donor informed the Bar Foundation Board that the monthly payments would be doubled to $10,000, so that the total contribution of $200,000 would be completed by November 2021, instead of October, 2022!   The Board of Directors has expressed its utmost appreciation for the unbelievable generosity of the Anonymous Donor. Because of this extraordinary action, the Justice Fund should be able to reach its $1 million goal in the next several months.   Three Cheers for the Anonymous Donor!
