$408,477-
The WV Bar Foundation’s mission is to improve the administration of justice and the provision of legal services to the citizens of West Virginia. The Board of Directors pursues that mission through its top priority of providing Bar Foundation grants to worthwhile charitable organizations in the state. Since the first grant was provided in 2004, grants totaling $408,477 have been distributed in five categories–public education, law student scholarships, legal services for low income citizens, child abuse and neglect prevention and the WV Judicial Lawyer Assistance Program. Last week, grants were made to three important endeavors in the state: WV Judicial Lawyer Assistance Program. Mountain State Justice-Language accessibility and outreach. Public Defender Services-New attorney training and criminal practice refresher. With additional grants of more than $75,000 being designated for scholarships and clinics at West Virginia University and its College of Law by way of the nine Lunch and Laughs honorees, the grand total of grants made will surpass a half million dollars during 2020. Most impressively, the extraordinary donation by an Anonymous Donor over the next two years will enable the Bar Foundation’s Justice Fund to exceed $1 million which will enable more than $50,000 in grants to be made each and every year into the future. A big Thank You for your support and your involvement!
