PHILANTHROPY CLE SEMINAR
           An excellent continuing legal education (CLE) seminar will be held on November 6-7, at the Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg. Sponsored by the statewide Philanthropy WV organization, the two day annual meeting includes several sessions with approved CLE credit totaling 8.1 credits, including 2.4 credits in legal ethics. The legal ethics presentation will be made by John Tyler, Chief Legal Ethics Officer for the Ewing Marion Kaufman Foundation, and will include ethical issues relating to economic development, data usage and privacy, donor advised funds and impact investing. Philanthropy WV consists of representatives from corporate, private, family and community foundations in all parts of West Virginia. Further details and registration materials can be accessed at PWV’s website—-www.philanthropywv.org PUBLIC SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP The Bar Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the Public Service Scholarship at the WVU College of Law will be shared by Ms. Emily Neely and Ms. Hannah Vogt. Law School Dean Greg Bowman stated that Emily and Hannah, who benefitted from the Scholarship last academic year, had been selected to receive it again during the current 2019-20 academic year. His notification letter to the Bar Foundation said that they were “worthy representatives of the WVU College of Law who will use this scholarship to support our mission and serve the public need.” Congratulations to Emily and Hannah for this well deserved selection! We will request personal comments from both of them to share with you. They are second year law students. Thanks to you–the donors and supporters of the Bar Foundation’s programs and activities!

GENEROUS DONATION
           The WV Bar Foundation Board of Directors wishes to express its sincere appreciation to Marty and Kathy Becker (Charleston) for their recent generous donation. Marty, a Bar Foundation Fellow, is a lawyer, accountant and international business leader and Kathy has served on the WV Lawyer Disciplinary Board among her many public service and community activities.
