BAR
FOUNDATION FELLOWS DINNER
The
14th Annual Bar Foundation Fellows Dinner at the Marriott Hotel on April 26 was
another successful event. Pictured above are several of the sixteen lawyers and
three judges who were honored by more than 150 legal system and community
leaders who were in attendance.
Bar Foundation President Joe Long (Bluefield) served as the Master of Ceremonies
with excellent remarks being made by Michael Nissim-Sabat, the WVU Law School
student who received the Bar Foundation Public Service Scholarship. After each
of the Fellows was honored, Judge Alan Moats gave inspiring comments on behalf
of the Fellows.
This year’s group, listed below, joins 239 lawyers and 35 judges, who have
previously been named as Fellows from more than 5,000 lawyers and judges in West

ALPS
LAWYER LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

  • Unique and valuable opportunity.
  • Informative and inspiring.
  • A great use of 2 days of our time.
  • It has inspired me to strive to take on more leadership responsibility.
  • Great speakers on a worthwhile topic.
  • Every lawyer should attend similar instruction.
  • Wonderful reminder of why I became a lawyer.
  • Excellent-the topics, speakers and participants all exceeded
    expectations.

These
are just some of the evaluation comments made by the younger lawyer participants
at the ALPS Lawyer Leadership Institute held on May 18-20 at Stonewall Resort
near Weston. For two days, they listened to presentations, had discussions and
interacted with federal and state judges, WVU Law School professors and well
respected lawyers regarding the leadership skills, traits and experiences that
will benefit them as they continue and expand their leadership responsibilities
in communities throughout West Virginia.
This diverse group of nine lawyers from all types of law practice and from all
parts of the state have been lawyers for less than ten years and have
demonstrated their potential and their desire to be future leaders in our legal
profession, our legal system and in benficial local entities. It was
their unanimous opinion that the Institute should be an annual opportunity for a
small group of rising lawyer leaders.
The Bar Foundation expresses its utmost gratitude to Bar Foundation Fellow Bob
Minto and ALPS (Attorney Liability Protection Society) for their strong support
of this important Institute.
