SALE PENDING-
The Bar Foundation Board of Directors has agreed in principle to sell the building located at 2006 Kanawha Blvd., East, in Charleston to a well known and well respected West Virginia organization.
The stately facility, pictured above, served as the State Bar Center headquarters for more than two decades until the WV State Bar re-located its offices, effective in December, 2011. The photo was provided courtesy of Cheryl Wright.
The Bar Foundation will enter into a real estate agreement with provisions and contingencies that should culminate in a final closing date in the near future. The Bar Foundation Officers (President Joe Long-Bluefield, Vice President Steve Nord-Huntington and Secretary/Treasurer Tracey Weber-Weston) conducted the effective and efficient negotiations in accordance with the Board’s directions.
BAR FOUNDATION FELLOWS-SAVE THE DATE-
The 2012 class of WV Bar Foundation Fellows will be honored during the annual reception and dinner on Thursday, April 26, at the Marriott Hotel in Charleston.
This black-tie optional event is attended by as many as 200 judges, lawyers and their guests from throughout the state and is the premier event to recognize those members of the legal profession who have attained achievements and accomplishments that benefit the justice system and their local communities.
The outstanding lawyers and members of the judiciary in this year’s class will be formally announced in the next edition of the Bar Brief. They will join slightly more than 300 of West Virginia’s 5,000 lawyers and judges who have been previously selected as Bar Foundation Fellows.

LAW OFFICE PREPAREDNESS-
Is your law office ready for an emergency?
Did you know that approximately 15-40% of all businesses fail following a natural or man-made disaster?
Did you know that small to medium-sized businesses lose approximately $12,500 each day from power outages or service interruptions caused by a non-existent or inadequate emergency preparedness plan?
The WV Business Volunteer Council has business preparedness resources available. You can request that a free computer thumbdrive be sent to you that includes emergency planning templates, disaster kit checklists and much more. Please contact:
