BOARD LEADERSHIP-
          The WV Bar Foundation Board of Directors is a diverse group of fifteen judges and lawyers from all parts of the state and all types of law practice. The Board members hold quarterly meetings with one being in person and three using the toll free telephone conference call system. In addition, each Board member serves on at least one Bar Foundation committee with recommendations being made to the full Board for policy decisions. They are elected to three year overlapping terms with the ability to serve a maximum of two terms or six years. The current Board members for 2019-20 are: Ellen Cappellanti-President-Charleston H. G. “Chip” Shaffer, III-Vice President-Madison Mary Clare Eros-Secretary/Treasurer-Shepherdstown Teresa Dumire-Morgantown Richard Ford, Jr.-Lewisburg Judge Mary Ellen Griffith-Princeton David Jividen-Wheeling Lucien Lewin-Martinsburg Professor Marjorie McDiarmid-Morgantown Judge Alan Moats-Grafton Christy Morris-Charleston Judge Joyce Morton-Webster Springs Gail Henderson Staples-Huntington Gerry Stowers-Charleston Tracey Weber, III-Weston The Bar Foundation Board leaders pursue the organization’s mission to improve the administration of justice and the provision of legal services for West Virginia’s citizen. They are committed to continuing the Bar Foundation’s status as the philanthropic entity for the state’s legal profession and justice system.

BOARD MEETING-
          The Bar Foundation Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting on December 5 and took the following actions: * Reviewed and approved the Independent Audit and the IRS Form 990 for the 2018-19 fiscal year. It was an “unmodified opinion, which is the best opinion that can be given”, according to the Board’s accounting firm. * Discussed the Justice Fund operation with the Financial Consultant including the extraordinary multi-year financial commitment by the Anonymous Donor to reach the goal of $1 million. The Board also reviewed the administrative fees as part of its due diligence. * Considered and approved the financial report for the first five months of the fiscal year which showed good financial condition. * Approved grants for ongoing important programs and new innovative concepts to improve the administration of justice. * Nominated another outstanding group of judges and lawyers to be invited as members of the 2020 class of Bar Foundation Fellows. * Selected a special honoree for the Lunch and Laughs With a Legal Legend event in September, 2020.

DONATIONS-
           A significant percentage of all donations made each year to worthwhile charitable organizations are made during the last days of December.
