JUSTICE FUND ANONYMOUS DONOR
Two months ago, an anonymous donor made an extraordinary gift to the Bar Foundation’s Justice Fund! In order to enable the Bar Foundation to accumulate $1 million in the Justice Fund, the Anonymous Donor has pledged a total of $200,000 over the next three years. This momentous donation will have an immense positive impact on the administration of justice and the provision of legal services here in West Virginia for many years into the future. The Bar Foundation Board of Directors, consisting of three judges and twelve lawyers from all parts of the state and all types of law practice, had set a fundraising goal of $1 million a few years ago and the Justice Fund has grown steadily through contributions to reach more than $700,000, as reported during the September quarterly Board meeting. The Anonymous Donor’s spectacular commitment to the Bar Foundation’s Justice Fund, which is the source of above normal grant payments, dramatically increases the positive impact of the Justice Fund, once the goal of $1 million is reached. This is not the first time that the Anonymous Donor has stepped forward to strongly support the Justice Fund. As reported in a previous Bar Brief, this WV leader made a $25,000 gift in December, 2018. It was the largest donation ever made during the Bar Foundation’s 31 year history— until this new exceptional gift was made two months ago. As it has done privately, the Bar Foundation Board of Directors publicly expresses its utmost gratitude and appreciation to the Anonymous Donor for the unbelievable example of service leadership!
