LAW STUDENT LEGAL CLINICS
WVU Provost Joyce McConnell was the honoree for the Lunch and Laughs With a Legal Legend event that was held last fall in Morgantown. The net proceeds from the successful “friendly roast” are equally divided between the Provost’s favorite charitable activity and Bar Foundation grants to improve the administration of justice.
The Provost, who formerly served as a Professor and as the Dean at the WVU College of Law, chose the law student legal clinics to receive $9,440 to support their important efforts in assisting WV’s men, women and children. Pictured above for the recent presentation of the funds are, from left to right, Professor Marjorie McDiarmid, the Director of the Clinical Program, Law School Dean Greg Bowman, Provost McConnell, Bar Foundation President Ken Gray and Bar Foundation Board Member Christy Morris.
The Provost and Professor McDiarmid talked about the extraordinary achievements accomplished by the clinical program in providing real life legal experiences for the participating law students, for the impressive growth in the number of clinical programs available and for the extremely beneficial outcomes for individuals, families, communities and entities throughout the state.
The Bar Foundation expresses its sincere appreciation to WVU Provost Joyce McConnell for her successes as a Legal Legend and for supporting the student legal clinics at our College of Law!

$59,234-WVU COLLEGE OF LAW
The Bar Foundation Board of Directors initiated the annual Lunch and Laughs With a Legal Legend event seven years ago to honor an outstanding WV judge or lawyer with a “friendly roast”. Half the net proceeds from the Lunch are designated for the honoree’s favorite charitable activity.
Six of the seven honorees have made the decision to support the WVU College of Law with the funds going to either law student scholarships or to the law student legal clinics.
The total amount of money has been $59,234!
Hooray for our Legal Legends!
