NEW LARGEST DONATION EVER

The WV Bar Foundation Board of Directors expresses its utmost appreciation to Steve White of Charleston (pictured above) for his very significant donation to support its mission to improve the administration of justice and the provision of legal services to WV’s citizens.

Steve is a former Bar Foundation President, who just completed six years of outstanding service as a Bar Foundation Board member. His generous contribution surpasses the previous largest donation which was made in June by Ancil Ramey, Immediate Past President and Board member.

Steve’s extraordinary financial commitment will enable the Bar Foundation to continue and increase its beneficial grants program to worthwhile charitable entities in the state.

Thank you so much, Steve White!

JOHN TINNEY

With deep sympathy, the WV Bar Foundation wishes to inform you of the passing of John H. Tinney, Sr. of Charleston on August 1, 2016, in Charleston, after a short illness.

John served with distinction as the Bar Foundation President and as a Board of Directors member with his tenure concluding in 2010. He also served as the WV State Bar President in 2001—he is one of only three lawyers to serve the legal profession as President of the two statewide organizations, the others being G. Nicholas Casey and Robert M. Steptoe, Jr.

John’s life of outstanding achievement and leadership was celebrated on August 5, where judges, lawyers, community officials, family and many friends remembered and honored his wisdom, wit and treasured relationships. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan, two sons, Jack and Jim, who are lawyers, five grandchildren and other family members.
