FLOOD DISASTER RELIEF

In response to the disastrous flooding that occurred in various parts of WV several days ago, the Bar Foundation Board of Directors has decided to assist the utilization of volunteer lawyers and clinical law students at Disaster Relief Centers and other locations, including the use of telephone and electronic communications, to provide legal guidance to eligible persons, families and businesses affected by the flooding. There may be the need for money for incidental expenses, communications, office expenses, etc., which could be handled though small Bar Foundation grants to worthwhile charitable organizations.

Additionally, in the past week, Legal Aid of WV, the American Bar Association and the WV State Bar have collaborated to put together a website with lots of law related flood relief information, as well as a webinar which was held on July 7 for lawyers who have volunteered to provide legal guidance to citizens in the flood areas.
