VALUE…CANNOT BE REPLICATED

Since its initial grant in 2004, the Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors has distributed more than $270,000 to organizations and entities to improve the administration of justice and the provision of legal services to WV’s citizens. In excess of $225,000 of that amount has occurred through 47 specific grants.

Each grantee is required to provide a final report on the utilization of the grant funds. Last year, the WVU Student Legal Services Office received a grant to send two representatives to an excellent national training conference for lawyers engaged in this particular student legal practice. In its required report recently, the SLS Office made the following statements:

“This conference was an important opportunity for our attorneys to collaborate with other student legal professionals to improve and expand the services and programs we provide to the student body.”

“The value of this educational opportunity cannot be replicated in any other continuing educational opportunity. ”

“We were able to collaborate with other SLS offices across the country to expand our services and better meet students’ legal needs. Through collaboration with other SLS offices, we are better equipped to more fully and comprehensively meet the needs of the West Virginia University student body.”

The support and consideration that the state’s judiciary and members of the legal profession provide throughout the year, especially through the Bar Foundation’s Justice Fund, ensures that similar worthy endeavors occur for the benefit of our men, women and children here in WV.

Thank You!
