WVU FOUNDATION RECOGNITION

During its annual recognition ceremony last month, the West Virginia University Foundation made a special award to the WV Bar Foundation for its ongoing support for the legal education programs at the WVU College of Law. Pictured above at the ceremony are Bar Foundation Board of Directors member and retired Judge Advocate General, Ken Gray, and WVU President and former WVU College of Law Dean, Gordon Gee, wearing one of his signature bowties.

In just the past three years, the Bar Foundation has provided more than $103,000 for law student scholarships through the proceeds from the Lunch and Laughs With a Legal Legend events and from the Bar Foundation’s Public Service Scholarships. Utilizing the sponsorships, contributions and donations that are received, the Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors will continue to work to improve the administration of justice and the provision of legal services as the philanthropic organizations for the legal profession and the justice system in the state.

LUNCH AND LAUGHS ROASTERS
The Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the distinguished lawyers who will serve as the roasters for the 4th Annual Lunch and Laughs With a Legal Legend on Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown, beginning at 11:30 AM, where Forest “Jack” Bowman, Professor Emeritus of the WVU College of Law, will be honored with a “friendly roast”.

Providing the humorous stories and tales about Professor Bowman will be three of his longtime friends and colleagues–WVU College of Law Dean Emeritus John Fisher, WVU College of Law Professor Charles DiSalvo and Steven Crislip, Attorney at Law.

Each year, the honored guest designates a worthwhile charity to receive the net proceeds from the Lunch and Laughs event with more than $33,000 having been distributed in the first three years. Professor Bowman will be selecting his charitable activity in the very near future.

Sponsorships of $2,000 provide a reserved table with 10 seats. Individual tickets can be purchased for $60. A majority of the amounts is tax deductible. Please contact the Bar Foundation to make reservations— tom@wvbarfoundation.org
